OVERVIEW

First-year Ph.D. student Grady Mukubwa works in Jones Lab under the Guidance of Dr. Caroline Jones. His research is focused on the interface of microfluidics, immunology, and virology. He uses microfluidic devices to study virus-immune cell interactions.

Grady graduated from the University of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2019 with a bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Sciences. In 2022, he earned his master’s degree in chemistry from Rhodes University in South Africa. During his bachelor studies, Grady was recognized for his outstanding achievements with the BEBUC scholarship (Bourse d’Excellence Bringhmann aux Univesites Congolaises). He also received a BEBUC scholarship to support his master’s studies in 2021.

Grady is currently on the leadership team for Nucleate, a student-led organization representing the largest global community of bio-innovators.

Grady is also a member of The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics at UTD, along with the Rocket League Club. Grady enjoys reading books on philosophy, psychology, and religion. He also likes to spend time outdoors, listening to classical piano music and exploring new experiences.
