Research Experiences for Undergraduates

The Department of Bioengineering at The University of Texas at Dallas is now accepting applications for the Summer, 2020 REU. Applications should be received by March 2, 2020 to receive full consideration.

Apply now for a $4,000 research experience for undergraduates (REU) summer fellowship in biomedical engineering. REU Fellows will have the opportunity to perform research in state-of-the-art laboratories with leading experts in their fields, learn about research from broad areas in bioengineering, and prepare for careers in human centered engineering design.

Research and learn from faculty in the areas of bioimaging, biomaterials, biomechanics, biosensors/bioelectronics, neural engineering, or systems biology.

The Program will run from May 25 to August 1, 2020 and will include:

  • Research and mentorship in a UTD Bioengineering laboratory
  • On-campus room and board
  • Weekly luncheon seminars and social events
  • Shared experiences and activities with the UT Southwestern Medical Center Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)
  • End of summer symposium at which Fellows will present the results of their work to the other REU Program participants and the University community

UT Dallas is located in the greater Dallas metropolis, which is composed of a vibrant culture with more than 600 technological companies. Program participants will have a unique opportunity to see state-of-the-art equipment, laboratories and production lines not available at any university, and learn about the many science and engineering careers available to them.

The Program encourages applications from junior and senior undergraduate students from underrepresented groups, veterans and/or attending institutions with limited research opportunities. Previous research experience is not a requirement.
