Fall 2022 Commencement

 Bisrat Assefa

“My favorite moment has been meeting a lot of like-minded individuals and just being able to learn a lot of new stuff and explore new ideas that I haven’t been able to before. That has been my favorite experience so far.

Enjoy your time here! There are a lot of great people and make new friends, and even though it is hard, it is worth it at the end of the day. Make it as fun as possible, and study hard.”

“When I was here, I got to play on the women’s soccer team, and I got to work on a lot of really cool projects in the biomedical engineering department. My favorite part, which happened at the end, was winning first place overall at our Senior Design expo!

Don’t be worried about fitting everything in. Try to make some solid memories, and the rest will follow!”

(Kaitlin Manning Left Michelle Williams Right) “I really enjoyed my time here, and I made some lifelong friends and had a whole range of experiences, from working on electronics in the lab to Dancing till 2 am in Founders. I honestly had a great time, and I am very thankful for the opportunities that this gave me, and I am very hopeful for the future!”

“Although I started my experience at UTD in the middle of COVID, I am happy that everything is back in person! It is awesome to be in various activities like media theater and the recreational soccer club. Also, making memories with my friends as we work on our projects and just grabbing lunch from 7/11 and hanging out with my professors and getting advice from them has been very helpful, and I am very grateful for the time I spent here! “

“The thing I’m proudest of is my arc. I started floundering and struggling. But I am so proud of how I recovered and grew. I’m proud to be Cum Laude but that honestly wasn’t an award I was expecting when I initially got my final GPA. I was just proud to have accomplished what I’d promised my Mom since I was 6: Graduate from a recognized University with a 3.5 and I’d beaten it with a 3.67! The extra medal was just icing on the cake at that point.”
