OVERVIEW

Mari is from Mililani, Hawai’i. She is currently a sixth-year PhD student in Dr. Miller’s Biomechanics of Growth and Remodeling Lab. Her research focuses on how the function of the uterus changes with age and postpartum recovery. She hopes her work can help address knowledge gaps to improve outcomes in women’s health.

Mari completed her BS in Bioengineering at Oregon State University and her MS in Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University. During her time in grad school, she has served as a member of the ASME Bioengineering Division Student Leadership Committee. She was awarded the Jonsson School Excellence in Education Fellowship for this school year.

Outside of research, Mari enjoys watching sports and Star Wars, cooking, and going to Disney.
