Overview

Dr. Girgis Obaid is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas and has over 10 years of experience in tumor targeted nanotechnology. Dr. Obaid’s expertise lies in the realm of molecular targeted photodynamic-based therapy with the goal of improving tumor delivery, reducing toxicity and maximizing therapeutic benefits. In addition, Dr. Obaid has focused on molecular targeted probes and nanotracers for the quantitative imaging of tumor biomolecules to guide nanoconstruct engineering, treatment design and image guided surgery. Dr. Obaid is currently supported by an NIH-NCI K99/R00 award to develop strategies to enhance patient-specific and tumor-specific nanotechnology with molecular imaging. His research at the University of Texas at Dallas focuses on using photonically-activatable nanoconstructs as a means for regulating drug delivery, treatment regimen design, and spatio-temporal induction of cancer therapy.
