Bhuvana Lakkasetter Chandrashekar

OVERVIEW
Bhuvana Lakkasetter Chandrashekar , a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Dr. Danieli Rodrigues’ Biomaterials for Osseointegration and Novel Engineering (BONE) Lab at The University of Texas at Dallas, is a two-time recipient of the convergence grant for her groundbreaking research on dental cements.
Her work has the potential to revolutionize the field of dentistry and improve the lives of countless patients. Dental cements are used by clinicians for both cavity fillings and dental implant systems. Therefore, this topic is essential to research, as not all materials used for teeth can be used with implants.
For Bhuvana, receiving this grant is one of the most important achievements of her Ph.D. journey. It has allowed her to share her research with a broader audience in the clinical and scientific community. She believes that it is crucial for her work to reach more people for the adoption of better practices in the future.
Bhuvana’s mentors, Dr. Rodrigues, and Dr. Biguetti, have been her greatest motivation and inspiration. “I wouldn’t be a researcher without them.” Bhuvana says, “They’re the backbone of all of my professional and academic achievements, and I couldn’t thank them enough!” She also credits her wonderful lab and colleagues who provide constant help and support.
“I would also like to convey many, many thanks to the department of Bioengineering for making us feel so belonged and providing us with all these wonderful opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.” Bhuvana says, “It is the enthusiasm of the department that keeps us all motivated and aim to achieve more.”
Congratulations, Bhuvana! We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and look forward to seeing the results of your research. Your contributions to the field of dental cements are sure to be invaluable, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for you.
