Triniti Vanoven – Graduate Student
Triniti Vanoven, a dedicated researcher and member of the Pence Lab at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), has been honored with the ASLMS A. Ward Ford Memorial Institute Fund Award.
As a member of the Pence Lab, Triniti utilizes Raman spectroscopy to analyze the chemical composition of materials. Her current research focuses on pelvic organ prolapse (POP), a condition that affects approximately 50% of women worldwide, causing the descent of the pelvic organs into the vaginal canal.
In collaboration with Dr. Kristin Miller and Dr. Florian-Rodriguez, a Urogynecologist at UTSW, Triniti’s project aims to correlate the biomechanical properties of the vaginal canal to the composition of its extracellular matrix in individuals with and without POP. Her specific focus is on developing a noninvasive, label-free technology that can observe the vaginal epithelium without the need for a biopsy.
Triniti’s passion for women’s health and desire to make a positive impact have driven her choice of research topic.
Expressing her gratitude, Triniti stated, “This award represents my hard work and the work of the lab. I am extremely thankful to ASLMS for their recognition, funding, and endorsement of this important research.”
Congratulations, Triniti, on this outstanding achievement. We can’t wait to see the impact your research will have on women’s health!
