Overview
Victor Varner has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas since 2016. His innovative research, backed by substantial federal funding, focuses on how mechanical cues influence tissue morphogenesis during embryonic development and wound healing.
With over 44 publications and over 1800 citations, Dr. Varner’s research explores mechanisms like branching morphogenesis in the lung, kidney, and corneal wound healing. He has created key biomechanics courses for undergraduate and graduate students, earning the Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award in 2018 for his dedication to education.
In addition to his research and teaching, Varner serves the scientific community through collaborations at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and involvement in various departmental committees and conferences. His work aims to advance regenerative therapies for tissue repair and health.
