Jeremy Warren

OVERVIEW
Jeremy Warren, a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Dr. Heather Hayenga’s Vascular Mechanobiology Lab, is a recipient of the Convergence grant. Jeremy is focused on developing computational models of a disease called atherosclerosis. The lab uses a trifecta of biological, mechanical, and fluid models to study the interactions of cells and their environments and better understand how the disease progresses with time.
One key component of Warren’s work incorporates real patient data, meaning each simulation is unique and tailored to each patient. “I am extremely excited to have received this grant!” In addition, Warren says, “It gives me the opportunity to network with other researchers and build strong relationships for our lab and the University in future collaborations.”
Jeremy’s mentors, Dr. Clark Meyer, and Dr. Heather Hayenga, played a significant role in his decision to pursue a Ph.D. and continue researching this area. “Dr. Meyer’s mentorship during my time as an undergraduate student was formative in developing my skills in biomechanical analysis, and my PI (and Dr. Meyer’s wife) Dr. Hayenga, has been one of the most strong-willed people I’ve had, the opportunity to work for.” Jeremy says, “Their continued support and mentorship inspire me to be the best researcher (and person) that I can be!”
Congratulations, Jeremy! We wish you all the best in your future endeavors and look forward to seeing the results of your research. Your contributions to the field of atherosclerosis are sure to be invaluable, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for you.
